Fairy Tale Fix

Published on

This week’s challenge required teams to solve a problem faced by a character in a fairy tale or fable. For example:

  • Rapunzel needs a way to escape from her tower. Come up with an automated solution that transports her safely to the ground.
  • Cinderella can’t rely on pumpkin-powered transport. She needs a reliable carriage that drives itself.
  • Little Red Riding Hood needs protection from the Big Bad Wolf.
  • The Billy Goats Gruff must cross a troll-guarded bridge. A robotic assistant could distract or deter the troll while the goats cross safely.
  • The Three Little Pigs need a security system with automated reinforcements that could keep the wolf out.
  • Humpty Dumpty is prone to falling. Build a system for catching Humpty Dumpty safely whenever a fall is detected.
  • Aladdin’s magic carpet needs better navigation. A robotic system with sensors could ensure a safe journey.
  • The Pied Piper needs a better way to manage rats. Desing an automated rat-catching robot could humanely remove pests from the town.
  • Sleeping Beauty needs a reliable wake-up system. Design a high-tech alarm that ensures she wakes up on time without needing a prince’s kiss.
  • Hansel and Gretel’s breadcrumb navigation system isn’t reliable. A robotic trailbot with pathfinding capabilities could help them find their way home.
